Come & try orienteering around Coombs Wood in the Eden Valley.

This is one of Border Liners regular Saturday events where beginners are most welcome. Courses are open to children, families, beginner adults, runners and experienced orienteers. There will be BL members available to provide advice. Coaching will be available at this event for juniors and adult beginners - 10am to 11am.

Location:
near Armathwaite, NY 513 450, nearest postcode CA4 9SH. Parking on roadside. [STREETMAP]
Courses:
Novice (easy) 2.1k and 60m climb
Long (difficult) 4.6k and 170m climb
Short (difficult) 3.1k and 100m climb
Registration and Start times:
Register your entry on the day from 10.30am. Start your course any time between 11:00am and 12:00noon. Courses close at 1.30pm. Don't forget to download after your run! Let us know you're back even if you don't complete your course.
Cost: Junior £2, Senior £4. Groups/Families, fee per map.
Additional information:
Children must be accompanied by an adult unless they are already experienced orienteers. Not suitable for buggies. Coombs Wood has many paths and tracks - not always very clear! Mountain bikers use some of the tracks. Watch out, take care! Also be aware that the area is rough underfoot and very steep in places.

Safety and Risk: A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the event organiser. Runners must download even if they retire so we can be sure everyone is back and that we do not need to start a search and rescue. Participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
 
Non-members and Third Party Liability Insurance: As from 1st January 2020 non-members will be covered by British Orienteering Third Party Liability insurance for all activities/competitions, and the limit of 3 activities/competitions will no longer apply.
